The program primarily supports small and medium-sized enterprises in Bavaria in the development of new technological products and processes, as well as in the application of modern technologies.

What is eligible for funding?

  • Development projects: Projects aimed at developing technologically new or significantly improved products, production processes, and knowledge-based services (in justified exceptional cases, this may also include technical feasibility studies to prepare for development projects)
  • Location-relevant technology projects: Projects of exceptional strategic importance for Bavaria as a center of research and technology
  • Application projects: Implementation of new technologies within a company that have not yet become established in the respective industry

 

Eligible R&D expenses:

  • Personnel costs
  • Costs for instruments and equipment
  • Expenses for contract research, technical expertise, patents, and consulting services from third parties
  • Other operating expenses

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the commercial sector with fewer than 400 employees (within a corporate group)

Exclusively small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as defined by the EU

How is funding provided?

BayTP+ is provided in the form of grants or loans, depending on the type of project being funded, but always as part of a project grant

  • Development projects and location-relevant technology projects = Grant
  • Application projects = Loan

Funding rates:

  • Up to 50% for industrial research
  • Up to 25% for experimental development
  • Up to 10% for investments (application projects)

SME bonus:

  • +10% for medium-sized enterprises
  • +20% for small enterprises

 

  • Loans for application projects: up to 100% financing (funding amount calculated according to EU law)
  • Minimum project size: eligible from €1 million (for location-relevant technology projects)
  • Funding rate depends on risk, significance, and the company’s financial strength
